Simple Swatch: Jindie Nails

Sorry for pretty much only having simple swatches lately. I simply have not had enough time for some good nail art! But today's swatch is super gorgeous. I have pretty much been wearing polishes from my last swap, and this is probably one of my favorites she got me! I love greys since there is an endless amount of combinations to come up with! Here it is:

PS: Sorry for no sunlight :(

Jindie Nails- Water 4 Elephants

I guess this is a crelly grey base, I am still confused on what really makes a crelly a crelly... It is jam packed with all types of blue and green glitters, from circles, to squares, and to hexagons. All varying in size, too. There are even some really small purple flakies in there! I used two coats here.

It looks like this shade isn't on Jindie Nails website, but it is on Llarowe but of course out of stock like almost all of her polishes! Be sure to follow them on instagram or facebook to see when they will be restocking!

Simple Swatch: Smudged Nails!

I am especially excited for today's simple swatch since the maker is a fellow blogger friend of mine. She was also one of the first bloggers to start commenting and following my blog, so she of course has a special place in my heart :). Especially since she is from Australia and she made a special order for me all the way in the states! Check out Sylvie's Etsy, she just added some new shades! She also has a blog, too! She is the queen on gradients. Here is the first of the 4 that I have:

 Sunlight

Shade

Smudged- Catnip

Of course I chose catnip! I am not a crazy cat lady or anything... Plus it is an amazing green color, I have no green in my collection quite like this shade. It is jam packed with small white hexagonal glitters, and purple SQUARES. It also has the large purple flowers which require fishing, but it isn't that hard to get at least on on the brush. I used 2 coats here.

Sylvie really outdid herself, especially considering this is her first batch of handmade polishes! If I were to make one polish, I have always imagined it would look like this...I AM IN LOVE!

Half Moons Using Lime Crime

Here are some half moons using two of the newest Lime Crimes in my collection!

I started off with two coats of Lime Crime- Milky Ways. An amazing nude! Then doing what I always do using binder paper reinforcement stickers, I painted one thick coat of Lime Crime- Lavendairy. This is probably the most saturated purple in my collection. Lime Crime definitely has some of the best creme polishes out there. Cremes have always been my favorite finish, but they tend to be difficult to work with. But these are not at all! You should definitely get you some, all I need is the blue and pink to complete my Lime Crime collection!

Simple Swatch: Candeo Colors + Jelly Bean Nail Art

I have a little bit of nail art for you today. And a huge lemming of mine that has finally been squashed! Here it is:

Sunlight

Shade

Candeo Colors- Jellybean. I have seriously wanted this polish for well over a year. I have a thing for yellow indies mainly because there aren't that many yellows out there in the mainstream world, and they are always the same sunshine yellow, or lemonade shade. This is a "crelly" pale yellow base, jam packed with large blue, pink, and purple hexagnonal glitters, along with micro green and yellow glitters? I am not not sure, but it is such a nice balance, and sooo easy to work with! I used two coats.

Of course I had to do some type of nail art involving jelly beans. I thought a gradient would be nice and eye catching. The yellow base is Lime Crime- Crema De Limon. I have said this before; BEST YELLOW OF ALL TIME. I used two coats, but you could easily get away with one thick coat, especially if your nails are short. Then, using a dotting tool, I used China Glaze- Dance Baby (Electropop Collection Spring 2012) and Anise- Island Lover to make the jelly beans. I just made one dot, and another next to that dot to make a kidney/jelly bean shape!

What do you think? Can you suggest any other yellow indies? I want them all!

Simple Swatch: Coated In Polish

I'm back! It felt so good to paint my nails after having nail stickers on for 2 weeks. I have pictures of the stickers, but I emptied my memory card through out our trip on my boyfriends computer, so I don't have them right now. So, when I get those I will post them, but you can see a shot on my instagram.

I got another nail mail yesterday, and it was just ridiculous! We decided to get only indies, and she got me 30 freakin polishes! It was so hard to choose which one to wear first, but I finally made a decision, here it is:

Coated in Polish- Polishocracy

Greys are one of my favorite colors to wear, and this is like America in a bottle. It has all shapes and sizes of red, white, blue, and black glitters, all in a sheer grey jelly base. It is so sheer I decided to start off with one coat of China Glaze- Pelican Grey. All in all the formula was nice. I felt I had to shake the bottle before each application to get a good amount of glitter on it though, but the glitter spread out evenly on the nail!

I also topped it off with Justricarda's new Glossy Glam quick dry, super shiny top coat. This was also in my nailmail package. I am quite impressed and thankful since I am getting pretty low on top coats!

Guest Post: Will Paint Nails For Food

Today's guest is Will Paint Nails For Food! I can't remember how I came across her, but I was blown away by her nail art and swatches. She started her blog around the same time as me too, and now she has blossomed into a big shot and has tons of photos on etailers which is awesome! Might I add her name is amazing? Here is what she came up with:

Hi everyone! I'm very excited to be writing this post for Jennifer at Jennibertt's Nails. We've been following each other's blogs for quite some time now and I was really touched that she asked me to do a guest blog post while she's on vacation. Thanks Jennifer!

One of my favourite recent collections is Deborah Lippmann's The Mermaids - four shimmery polishes based on Mermaid's Dream, which came out last year. I was recently able to complete the collection and I've been dying to do some nail art with these polishes.

I saw this gradient over at Polish Police and knew that I wanted to try something similar. I also added some studs from the Born Pretty Store to complement the gradient.

I started with a base of OPI My Vampire is Buff because I thought the Deborah Lippmann polishes would be too sheer on their own. Turns out I was wrong and you can probably skip this step. For the gradient I used Million Dollar Mermaid, Mermaid's Kiss, and Do the Mermaid. I painted the polishes on a makeup sponge in three rows like I wanted the gradient to appear. Then I sponged it on, waited for it to dry, then repeated. I did this about three times for all nails.

I used a dab of top coat to affix the studs and then sealed everything with a thick layer of KBShimmer Clearly On Top.

Overall, I really love how the gradient turned out. The only down side about using these particular polishes is all the glitter - it gets everywhere!! If I were to redo this, I would tape the sides of my nails or use a layer of PVA glue, which I've heard can be used to quicken the final clean up process.

What do you think of this design? If you have any questions or thoughts, leave a comment, I'll be checking back periodically.

Guest Post: Nails at 2am

Today's post is also one of the first bloggers I started fololwing, and she fololwed me very early on as well. She is one of the hundreds of amazing Aussie nail girls, and is queen of ikats, which I need to try! I love that she did some green nails because she knows I love me some green. We also have had a huge epic nail mail in the works for like 5 months now...we just need to mail them out, so expect to see some aussie polishes in like a month. Here is what she created:

Hey y'all! My name's Christine from Nails at 2am and I'm thrilled to be doing a guest post for Jennibert's Nails :D

It wasn't too hard to choose the colour scheme for my mani.. As Jen's favourite colour is green, thought a neon green and pink leopard print would be perfect!

I used an unnamed ChiChi neon green for the base and Australis #totesamaze for the spots. My mum hates the bright neon green (hurts her eyes she says :P) but I LOVE IT... and I hope y'all do too! :D

I also took a photo in direct sunlight, and PHWOAR even better!

Andddd that's it, you can come visit me over at my own blog nailsat2am.blogspot.com.au, at my tumblr nailsat2am.tumblr.com or on my instagram instagram.com/xtinemayyy

A big thank you to Jen for asking me to guest post, and I hope you have a super-cali-fragelistic-expi-ali-docious-ly amazing vacation! :P

Guest Post: Misshollyberries

Today's guest is one of my faves. I came across her on youtube somehow when I was looking at nail stuff. She is one of the few youtubers I watch regularly, she just has a good system goin on, and her cats are so freakin cute! Her nails are always lookin amazing, and I love the nail art she does because it is kind of similar to what I do, simple, but still challenging. She totally blew me away with what she came up with for this, and I must recreate it as soon as possible! Here is is!

First off, I have to thank Jennifer for the incredible opportunity to do a guest post on her blog! I was blown away and so honored when she asked me to write a post for her.  She is seriously a master at watermarbling and I envy how beautiful her nails are.  And I’m also somewhat jealous that she is on vacation at the moment lol.

Since Jennifer is so good at different types of nail art, I had a mini panic attack trying to figure out what I could do that would be worthy of her blog.  I’m not great at nail art, I have no skills at water marbling, and my creativity level is practically at level 1.   But I have been playing around a lot with water spotting, and thought that maybe I could come up with some cool design with that!

For all of you who don’t know what water spotting is, it is similar to water marbling where you put polish in a cup of water and then dip your nails into it. The design on top of the water creates a really cool design on your nail.   But instead of swirling colors together to create a marble effect, you spray the surface of the water with hairspray, perfume, or spray hand sanitizer.

This method isn’t anything that I came up with.  In fact, the first time I saw something like it was from Cute Polish on YouTube.  Since then I’ve seen other YouTuber’s make videos about it and I’ve seen other bloggers come up with cool adaptations.  The most prevalent is the Turquoise Stone Nails!

I absolutely love the stone nails, but wanted to come up with a different color combination for Jennifer so I busted out some of my favorite summer colors.

The three polishes I used were:
-          Zoya “Snow White”
-          Orly “Rage”
-          China Glaze “Flip Flop Fantasy”

How to create these nails!

Supplies you will need:
-          You polishes, base and top coats (a little obvious, but still had to say it)
-          Room temperature water
-          Tape/Vaseline (for area around your nails)
-          Sandwich bag or Saran Wrap
-          Hairspray
-          Tooth picks
-          Nail polish remover for clean up

Step 1: fill up bowl with water and let it sit out for a while, so it becomes room temperature

Step 2: paint your nails whatever base color you want.  Put a top coat on. (I used Zoya “Snow White”)

Step 3: apply tape around your fingers to make clean up easier

Step 4: using the sandwich bag or Saran wrap, dab on your second color (I used Orly “Rage”)

Step 5: its spotting time! Take the lid off the third polish and drop 3 (ish) drops into the water surface.  It’s really similar to water marbling, except you just use the same polish for the rings.  The polish will spread across the surface.

Step 6: quickly spray the perfume onto the surface of the water

Step 7: dip your nail in. And like water marbling, use the tooth pick to remove the excess polish off the surface of the water before your take your nail out.

Step 8: repeat for all 10 nails.

Step 9: take the tape off and seal the design in with a top coat!

You can do this with any colors imaginable! I’m in love with the Turquoise Stone nails myself but these are still really fun and summery!

Thank you again to Jennifer for allowing me to be a guest blogger and if any of you guys want to check out my blog, you can go here: Misshollyberries!

Guest Post: Smashley Sparkles

Today's Guest Post is by the one and only Smashley Sparkles. She is a very well established blogger in the nail blogging community, and I feel so honored that she wanted to do this for me :) We discussed what she should to do, and we of course agreed on a water marble because she is seriously amazing when it comes to marbles, and I am back on my marble kick again! Read on for what she did, can't wait to feature my next guest!

Hi guys!  I'm super excited for this guest post for Jennifer, she is so sweet and I hope she is having a lovely vacation right now!  When she asked me to post for her, I knew she likes my marbles, so I asked her what colors she'd like to see me use.  We decided on a rainbow marble since its Pride Month.

I loved how this one turned out.  I've tried to do a rainbow marble in the past, but I didn't have enough colors that worked in the water.  This time I did!

These were done using the following colors (in rainbow order): Zoya Sooki, Cult Nails Ay Poppy!, Cult Nails You're My Dandy Lion, Essie Mojito Madness, OPI Ogre The Top Blue, and China Glaze Spontaneous.

How fun are these?!  So I hope you enjoyed this guest post, thank you again to Jennifer for asking me to write for her!

Guest Post: Aglaya Nails

Well today marks the third day of my 2 week long vacation! I have been camping the last two days, and didn't have time before we left to have blogger automatically update this for me. Right now we are in Colorado and I am updating this at around midnight since we need to leave super early tomorrow.

I arranged some guest posts while I was gone, and today's guest post is from Aglayanails! She was one of the first bloggers to follow me, and I have seen her blog blossom over the last 6+ months. So, naturally I asked her to do a guest post for me! She always has the prettiest swatches, and largest pictures. Her titles for her post are always clever too! Here is her post:

Hi, I'm Aglaya from Aglayanails. Jennifer asked me to write a guest post for her blog while she is on vacation, and I'm very excited, as this is the first time I've been asked to guest post. So thank you very much for this opportunity, Jennifer!

I chose a polish from Aphrodite Lacquers called Meteor to show you. Meteor has a sheer black jelly base filled with two different shades of green hexes and some smaller silver hexes. Application was really easy, no dabbing, no dragging, no fishing for glitters. All the glitters you see is just one single coat over a black creme, so it's really packed. Meteor dried pretty smooth, so I just used one coat of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri for a glassy finish.

The Aphrodite Lacquers shop on Etsy is closed right now until further notice, but I hope Rebecca, the owner, will be back soon.

4th of July Nails!

Of course I did some 4th of July nails to represent my country! Too bad I am not doing anything since I work this afternoon, and have work at 6am tomorrow -__-, plus I have to pack for our 2 week long road trip, more about that at the end of this post. Here is what I did:

I really love these besides the fact that I got air bubbles galore, and I don't know how the blue on my ring finger is so much lighter...I even waited forever before putting on a top coat, and it streaked like crazy!

For the marble I used China Glaze- Adventure Red-Y (On Safari Collection Fall 2012), OPI- My Boyfriend Scales Walls (Spiderman Collection Spring 2012), and China Glaze- Man Hunt (On Safari Collection Fall 2012). I really need to find better water marble shades in my collection. It is so sad I have so much China Glaze, and they just don't seem to work for me :(

The awesome patriotic glitter is KB Shimmer- Pimp My Pride (Summer Collection 2013) KB Shimmer always comes up with the best names. This is a "crelly" white base, packed with red and blue hexagonal glitters in all sizes, and tiny red and blue bar glitters as well! I used three coats here, it was pretty sheer, but amazing to work with!

Hope you enjoyed these and have a fun 4th of July if you are here in the states!

On to my vacation: I am leaving Saturday the 6th for a 2 week road trip to Missouri to see my family, and then to Texas for my boyfriends fat family reunion. So, that won't leave much time for nails, especially considering we will be camping. I didn't want to leave my blog dead for two weeks, so I arranged some guest posts from some of my favorite bloggers on here! I am so excited, I want to just post them all now, but I am going to space them out evenly. I will probably be posting some photos of our adventures on Instagram, so you can follow me there, username: Jennibertt

Simple Swatch: Black Cat Lacquer

Black Cat Lacquer- Let Them Eat Cake, swatched on 5 different Jessica Polishes:

Sunlight

Shade

Indoors

I had no difficulties with this polish at all! I got plenty of glitter on my brush to cover my entire nail, I have one coat shown here. Let Them Eat Cake consists of large pastel yellow, blue, and pink glitters, and tiny holographic glitters all in a clear base. I have been eying this for a while, and finally caved and got it!

The base colors are all Jessica polishes from the Gelato Mio Collection from Spring 2012, except for the color on my pinky. Trust me, there is a reason Jen The Polishaholic named this the best collection of 2012. I have all but two since they aren't that unique, but the hoarder in me wants them all just so I can have the entire collection! Starting from the thumb to the pinky: Banana Peel, Tangerine Dreamz, Lime Cooler, Barely Blueberry (Gelato Mio Collection 2012), and lastly, True Blue (It's A Girl Thing 2013). All apply like butter, and are opaque in 2 coats!
